The Idea

Brainstorming

Before we decided on what game we would make, we brainstormed ideas. Most of our ideas were similar to already existing arcade games as we felt that we were best to draw inspiration from games that we knew worked effectively on the hardware we were designing our game for.

However, after brainstorming game ideas, we came up with Adventure Archaeologist - a retro-style arcade game.

Target Audience

We decided that the target audience of this game would be teenagers and young adults as we felt that this demographic had a large potential for an interest in the more retro aspects of the game, particularly as the older players thereof may have memories and/or nostalgia from playing similar games.

Objective

The objective of the game was to traverse the in-game world and collect treasure while avoiding the bird that was chasing the explorer. The player's score would increase as they reached the treasure, and their number of lives would decrease as they were caught by the bird.
